Editorial Policy

Evidence first, clear distinctions, and accountable updates.

Choosing a story

We prioritize developments that change how a question should be understood: a regulator’s decision, a substantial trial, a useful synthesis of evidence or a persistent misunderstanding. Commercial popularity alone is not evidence of clinical value. We cover weight as one part of health, with attention to function, safety, quality of life and long-term sustainability.

Our source hierarchy

Regulatory decisions and current prescribing information establish approval and labeled use. Original randomized trials, systematic reviews and public health guidance support scientific explanations. Trial registries establish study design and recorded development stage. Manufacturer releases may report emerging findings; their commercial origin and preliminary nature must remain clear.

News outlets help identify stories. They are not the sole foundation for consequential medical claims. Where possible we link the underlying document and distinguish peer-reviewed findings from conference abstracts or press releases.

Review before publication

Drafts undergo source verification, fact checking, editorial revision and a technical publication checklist. We check clinical stage, jurisdiction, product formulation and indication separately. Important numbers must retain their population, timeframe, comparator and analysis context. We do not turn between-study comparisons into head-to-head proof.

Editorial and medical review

The initial publication uses research and editorial tools, including AI assistance. No independent clinician review is claimed. A future medical-review credit will require an actual identified reviewer and a documented contribution. Source review does not make the publication a healthcare provider.

Commercial boundaries

Any paid placement must be labeled Sponsored. Affiliate relationships must be disclosed close to the relevant recommendation, with appropriate link attributes. Reviews must state whether a product was actually tested, assessed from documents or examined through available evidence. We do not invent hands-on experience.

Freshness and corrections

We show publication and update dates and record an evidence-review date for medical material. An update date must reflect an actual content or evidence change; dates are not changed merely to make a story appear new. Read our corrections policy and affiliate disclosure.
